GME Policy: Updating and Approving Assignments in RMS

Policy Statement

All residents/fellows in University of Minnesota ACGME accredited programs or programs that lead to board eligibility by a specialty board of the ABMS are required to update and approve their assignments and hours in the duty hours module of RMS on a daily basis.

Residents/fellows are required to attend RMS training which is provided within their department/program. Residents/fellows must comply with the policies/procedures outlined by the Metro Minnesota Council on Graduate Medical Education (MMCGME), the UMN GME Administrative Office, and their respective department/program.

Compliance is monitored by the respective GME program and compliance issues are initially managed at the respective GME program and/or department level. If necessary, compliance issues may be escalated with a report out to the Associate Dean for GME and the Chief Financial Officer. All residents/fellows in University of Minnesota non-accredited GME programs must comply with the policies/procedures outlined by the UMN GME Administrative Office and their respective department/program.
