Women in Leadership Lecture Series

Flyer invitation for the Lydia Howell lecture, sponsored by the Medical School Women in Leadership committee

The Women in Leadership Committee is proud to sponsor the lecture Creating an Academic Culture for Success: Findings from a Four-Year NIH-funded Career Flexibility Study by Lydia Pleotis Howell, MD. Dr. Howell is a professor and the chair of the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine department at UC Davis Health. She is a national leader in women's health, and is known for her leadership and innovative approaches to improving the career paths and work-life balance for faculty and staff. Dr. Howell's work has guided new programs and tools that address gender differences in career development, inequities among career tracks, mentoring faculty across generations, and methods to better recognize and reward efforts across academic models. As UC Davis Health's first Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, Dr. Howell's work has been a model for policies adopted across the 10-campus University of California system, as well as academic health centers and other organizations nationwide.
